Sat. Feb. 26
We went to listen to the Wyndham rep after breakfast and got paid $85. Lite lunch here, relaxed and read, and late afternoon we went to Celebration for one last time before we leave tomorrow. We had our usual coffee and scone, sat and watched people walking by, and watched one guy catching several bluegill off the dock. A small alligator came right up to the dock and attracted a small crowd. There was an arts and craft street show going on, so there were lots of people around. We had an excellent supper at the Irish pub - Linda had fish and chips and I had bangers and mash (sausage and mashed potato). The walks around the lakes are all lighted, so we took a short walk and took some photos. Now that the days are getting into the mid-80’s, the evenings are very pleasant. A very nice time for our last day at Celebration. We have spent a lot of time here and will miss it.

FL WEATHER: High 84, low 60. Sunny, humid all day.

2011 Sun. Feb. 27
After breakfast, we packed up and checked out, heading for Destin on the panhandle. Stopped at Starbucks at the Target on our way out of town for our morning break, and stopped for lunch near Ocala at a Bob Evans. The temperature there was mid-80’s, but by the time we got to the panhandle it was mid-70’s. When we got close to Destin it was 66 and foggy, with the wind out of the south blowing off the gulf. We finally found Club Destin and checked in. What a difference from the Wyndham properties. The room is okay, but the people at the desk are not pleasant or very helpful. The resort is right on Hwy. 98, and one side borders another major road, so there is some traffic noise. The biggest difference is the grounds - it’s mostly parking lot! But it is a couple of blocks from the beach, so that’s the good part. Lite supper in our unit, then stayed up late to watch the Academy Awards. We were glad to see The King’s Speech win the big ones. Colin Firth was great, but we felt bad that Geoffrey Rush did not get as much recognition.

2011 Mon. Feb. 28
Foggy again this morning, but it soon burnt off as the sun came out strong. We went for a long walk on the beach, and there was some big wave action because of the south wind. Very warm, no one in the water except at the very edge, a few people laying out, more people walking. No shells here, but some funny looking squishy things and some little blue things filled with air that pop if you step on them. Lunch at the Subway just across the street from the resort. Then we went grocery shopping at Winn Dixie and to Target for a few things. Yeah, this Target also has a Starbucks! Home for supper.

FL WEATHER: High 70, low 50. Foggy morning, mostly sunny midday, very cloudy late afternoon. Forecast thunderstorms, but it did not rain here. Tornados north of here.
