AT THE BEACH AT DESTIN

Beautiful colors!

2011 Tues. March 1

I worked on the computer for several hours, catching up on my blog and ordering White Sox tickets for April. Instead of ordering all my tickets for the year on the first day possible, I’m trying something different. I joined the Sox Pride Club (for a fee), which allows you to order tickets held for club members only. On the first of each month, you can order for the next month. I was a little disappointed in the seats, although they are about what we always got - this time, halfway between 3rd base and the left field wall. I just thought these tickets might be better. At least ordering one month ahead avoids having conflicts compared to having to order several months ahead and hoping the dates work out. Lunch here, then we went for a ride west along the shore, saw lots of nice places, and walked on the beach at the far west end near the bridge. Then we rode east along the shore, found the little coffee shop near the beach that we had been to before, had our coffee and treat break, and took a long walk on the beach there. A perfect day - sunny, nice temperature, nice breeze. The waves are not as big today, because the wind is out of the east. The sand here is very white and very fine, and the water is beautiful. The colors are our favorites - emerald green, aqua blue, purple, and dark blue further out. [See pictures.] After our walk, we went to a big Barnes and Noble bookstore, browsed, read, bought one book, and then went home for a lite supper.

FL WEATHER: High 70, low 50. Very sunny all day, not a cloud in the sky. Nice breeze.

FL NEWS: Deep-water drilling restarts in the Gulf
[It is my fervent hope that more oversight and firm control over safety will prevent another spill from ever happening. I’m not very confident.]
The first deep-water drilling permit in the Gulf of Mexico since last year’s massive oil spill won federal approval. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement said the permit will allow work to continue on a well about 70 miles southeast of Venice, LA. Noble Energy started drilling on the well four days before the Deepwater Horizon exploded. Drilling was suspended June 12 when a moratorium was placed on deep-water exploration.
