2011 Mon. Jan 10

After breakfast we met with a Wyndham representative for about 2 hours. The incentive was $100, so we endured the pitch. Actually, we spent most of the time talking about him and his ideas about poverty, welfare, jobs, etc. He is black, played baseball in the minors for the Twins, and was very energetic. We always learn something new about our timeshare in these presentations, as we did this year - about Party Weekends. The cost is $150 for four days for four people, and food and other perks are included. He said they even have some that involve fishing! We’ll check into it. Back home for lunch, then to join the library in Celebration. It’s a small library, but it’s a nice place to sit and read papers and magazines, as well as to check out books. We read a lot while here, so $25 is cheaper than buying books, even at a discount. We have way too many books at home already, so this way we don’t add to the volume. After the library, we went to Starbucks for coffee and a treat, then walked around lake two. The pictures are of some of the water-birds we saw. Home for supper, watched Auburn win (at least watched when not sleeping!).

FL WEATHER: Cloudy, a few sprinkles, high today about 78. On the coast to the east, out of the cloud cover, it got up to 82 or more. It’s so dry, there were a few small wildfires south of here caused by lightning. It’s supposed to be warm tomorrow, but then the cold front arrives. The rest of the week will be highs of about 60, at most, with some night time freezes possible. had .3 inches of rain,

FL NEWS: Florida Panther Deaths: Wildlife experts say there were 23 documented Florida panther deaths last year. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says Monday that 16 of these panthers died after being hit by vehicles. Another six deaths are attributed to panthers killing each other and one panther died of unknown causes. Experts say the figures are similar to 2009, where there were 25 documented deaths, with 17 of those killed by vehicles. Since 1967, Florida panthers have been listed federally as an endangered species.
