THIS IS THE LAST POSTING FOR THIS YEAR.
I am interested in any comments, good or bad. I really wonder how many people are reading this. Please drop me an email.
2010 March 19 Friday
Since we are leaving tomorrow, this is the last time I will write in the blog this year. We will stay just south of Atlanta on Sat. night, in Paducah, KY, on Sun. night, and be home Monday afternoon. That is unless the snowstorm that’s hitting the Midwest this weekend doesn’t put a crimp in our plans! I’m not looking forward to driving in snow.
For lunch, we went to the Market Street CafĂ© in Celebration. Linda had barbequed chicken, and I had pot roast, both very good. Then I did my two hours on the computer at Starbucks while Linda read. (This could get to be a habit!) We walked around lake 2 and along lake 3 a little. I took my binoculars and identified several warblers, including a first for me, a yellow-throated warbler. This was not the common yellowthroat that we see at home. This one has hardly any color other than its yellow throat, all the way up to the bottom of the bill. On lake 1, we saw two alligators and ten big turtles sun bathing on the shore just past the pool for the hotel. This is an area that people can’t get to, so they feel safe. The sun is very nice today. Even Linda says she will miss coming to Celebration - it has been our favorite hang out, and we look forward to it next year when we will join the library. For $15, we will be able to read a lot of books without buying them.
Home for supper, then packed a few things in the van and put the bike rack and bicycles back on the van. There won’t be much left to pack in the morning, much different than when we used to leave the 5th wheel - no unhooking the sewer, water, and electric, no shutting off the gas tanks, no moving in the slide-out, no getting someone to put it in storage, and the list goes on and on. Now it’s just pack a couple of things and check out! We are not going to miss staying in it, although it served its purpose for five years. We really have enjoyed the Orlando area (especially Celebration!) and staying in resorts. I have already booked some for next year! Looks like we’ll be in Orlando for 5 weeks, home for 1.5 weeks, back to Orlando for 2.5 weeks, and then to Destin for 2.5 weeks. At least that’s the plan right now. Who knows what the future will bring?
WEATHER: High 74, low 53. Very sunny with a slight breeze. No sweatshirt needed today. It’s nice to have our last day be perfect. I hope the recent warmth at home continues, after the snowy weekend.
