SATURDAY THRU TUESDAY, IN REVERSE ORDER
2010 Feb. 2, Tuesday.
Raining steadily in the morning, sometimes pouring, but the temperature got to be above 70 today. In the afternoon, it stopped raining and became party sunny. For our morning break, we went about 2 miles to a Starbucks in the local Super-Target. But first, for exercise, we walked around the store for 10 minutes without stopping - not much, but better than nothing. Unfortunately, the Starbucks does not have WIFI. Home for lunch, followed by a short nap. Then we went for a walk around the area. The resort is 1/8 of a mile off the busy Hwy. 192, and the short road ends at the resort, with no side streets. But there are several motels around it, with Perkins and Bob Evans restaurants about a block from the entrance. About 3 blocks away is a Dunkin’ Donuts that does have WIFI, so I’m sure I’ll be spending some time there. The resort does not have WIFI either, but they do have a computer room that you can use. It’s nice because they have a printer hooked up to the computers, and they are very fast. I like WIFI though, because I type this in our room using a word processing program. Then when I want to send it, I copy and paste into e-mail. This way I can take my time typing, check it for errors, and make additions or corrections. But then I can’t use a different computer, because the file is on my laptop, so I need to go to Dunkin’ Donuts - not for the coffee and donuts, mind you, just for the WIFI. Ha, ha.

2010 Jan. 30 - Feb. 1, Sat. - Mon.
SATURDAY - We went out to the bookstore at Gulf Point mall one last time, lunch at home, finished packing the van, and then went to Arby’s just down the road for supper. Went to bed for one last night of sleeping in the trailer.
SUNDAY - The man who was moving our 5th wheel (to the place where they are going to sell it for us) came about 2 hours early, so we weren’t quite ready for him. He was very patient while we unhooked the electric, water and sewer lines, made the slide-out slide in, and cranked up the stabilizing legs. I asked him what he would charge to haul it to Mazon, and he said it would be about $2000, depending on the price of gas. So it would cost us about the same as the commission we will pay, but then we would have to sell it ourselves once we got home. Plus, it would have to be stored somewhere. I think we made the right choice to have it sold on commission, where they take care of marketing it, showing it, and all the accompanying paper-work. We waved goodbye to the RV (hopefully for the last time) and headed for Orlando about 9:10. We took our time (including lunch at a Bob Evans after a 40 minute wait), but we still got there before two o’clock. When we left Ft. Myers, the temperature was 61, but when we got to Orlando, it was 55 and cloudy. (That’s what happens when you go North! At least it wasn’t snowing!) We took a ride to see the place where we will be staying for 4 weeks when we get back from our home visit Feb. 7 - 17. It is large (65 acres) and has lots of good landscaping, including some very large old live-oak trees with lots of hanging Spanish moss. It borders on a lake, so I hope to do some fishing there. We checked in to High Point Resort at about 3:00, unpacked, and had a light supper. It seems nice to have lots of room, a full kitchen, two television sets, and a bathroom with a tub. The room is very nice, better than expected, but the grounds are not near as pretty as some others.
MONDAY - A drizzling rain this morning, so we stayed in and read. For lunch, we went across the street to The Black Angus to have steaks, since it was my birthday lunch. (I can’t believe I’m 70 now!) Then we rode to the Publix grocery store, which is about 2 miles west of us right beside a resort where we have stayed in the past called Orange Lake. Home for light supper.
